Peter Harrington Books, London, is offering for sale the copy previously owned by Michael L. Sharpe, Pasadena, Calif. (Census, 2.219), with his bookplate. The book is bound in white pigskin by Sangorski & Sutcliffe (c. 1940). Price: £60,000.
Mr. Sharpe purchased the book from Heritage Books in 2003.
[Updated, 10 January 2013: This copy was bought in December 2012 (for $115,000) as a gift from his wife for Lee Child, a British novelist, from Peter Harrington Books (London), via Baumann’s Rare Books (New York.) It is still in its 1940s Sangorski & Sutcliffe pigskin binding, but the clamshell box is no longer with the book. The couple lives in New York City.]
