Private collection, Wuppertal, Germany. ¶ Depping binding.
The pigskin binding by Gerit Depping (Münster, Germany, 1999) is a simplified version of the design of the Doves binding. The book was in a quarter-linen binding when it was sold in 1982 (see Provenance below), and it was rebound by the present owner. The Duschnes catalogue indicates the presence of an armorial bookplate, but the owner has no recollection of it. The box and wrapper were made in New York, perhaps for Duschnes.
Provenance: Philip C. Duschnes (New York) catalogue 232, December 1981, no. 128 (Census 4.646), sold for $10,500 to the present owner in 1982.
